Dr. Patrick Jacquot was IFHTSE President 2016-2017 and served in the Executive Committee of IFHTSE for 15 years. He is a renowned expert of surface engieneering and was a leader in the central laboratory of the Bodycote Group. The citation of the award reads: ”IN RECOGNITION OF HIS EXTENSIVE CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE PRACTICAL APPLICATION OF NEW HEAT TREATMENT AND SURFACE ENGINEERING TECHNOLOGIES AND HIS LONG-TIME SERVICE TO IFHTSE INCLUDING HIS PRESIDENCY” The Award ceremony will be on the occasion of the combined IFHTSE conferences in Lecce, Italy, Wednesday, April 17, 2024 - Friday, April 19, 2024.

Born in 1956 near Nancy, France, Dr. Patrick Jacquot graduated and obtained his Ph.D. de-gree in Materials Science (in 1985) at University of Nancy, INPL Nancy, School of Mines in France. He completed his education by the State Engineering Diploma in Materials Science of INSA Lyon (France) in 1999.
Dr Patrick Jacquot has more than 30 years of industrial experience on applied metallurgy (Heat Treatment, Thermochemical Treatments, Joining Techniques, Surface Treatments and Metallographic & Metallurgical Expertise on industrial metal parts.
Dr. Patrick Jacquot had an industrial career in heat treatment and surface treatment and dedicated his career to technology development. It was in 1984 that he joined the world of Thermal Treatment within the holding company “Vide et Traitement” which in 1986 gave rise to the HIT group which later became Bodycote in France. In 1985 he participated in the creation of Innovatique Research and Development Center (central laboratory of the Bodycote Group), under this applicant, Dr. Patrick Jacquot obtained several international patents. Since 2006 he was Director of Technological Development of Bodycote.
Dr. Patrick Jacquot is known and recognized for his technical expertise, his precise requirements, his direct but constructive comments which always have the objective of improving and making progress. He was able to share his knowledge and his forward-looking vision. Throughout his career he allowed the Bodycote group to progress. He welcomed and tutored numerous technicians, engineers, and doctoral students in Bodycote.
Besides his industrial responsibilities Dr. Patrick Jacquot published many papers especially in the field of Surface engineering by coating and nitriding and its effect on material properties, especially corrosion resistance. He impressed with outstanding contributions to many international conferences where he was able to demonstrate the challenges and solutions in the implementation of new heat treatment and surface engineering technologies into the industrial practise.
Along his career, Dr. Patrick Jacquot promoted and supported the heat treatment, surface treatment and metallurgy related topics in various functions: as active member of the French Heat Treatment and Surface Treatment Association (A3TS), notably in their scientific and executive committees, as active member of the scientific committee of the main French Technical Center in Mechanics CETIM, and as active Member of the French Association of Metallurgy and Materials (SF2M).
Dr. Patrick Jacquot served IFHTSE also as an active member of the Executive Committee for as many as 15 years. This was highlighted by his presidency in 2016 and 2017 and his role of chairman of the 24th IFHTSE congress in Nice 2017.
Within the IFHTSE committees, whether for management questions or when evaluating and selecting awardees he demonstrated clear, balanced, and rational argumentation which was always highly appreciated by his colleagues.
